Traffic is King, but this comes FIRST
Visitors to your site are critical – getting them there automatically is even better. Here’s how…
Traffic is useless . . . unless…
Before you begin trying to get traffic to your site, you need to do your keyword research first. The reason this is so important is that you are going to be building content and traffic sources for specific keywords. So you need to make sure the keywords you’re targeting are worth targeting.
A couple things to keep in mind when doing keyword research:
- Will you be able to rank for these keywords? You’ll have to analyze the competition and see what’s out there for this.
- Are these “buying” keywords? If you don’t do your research you’ll end up with a lot of traffic that doesn’t buy from you. This is not what you’re looking for.
- Another thing to think about is affiliates. Generating your own customers is great – having other people do it for you is even better. So, it’s important to also target affiliates in the keywords you go after.
This is critical to your business, but it takes a lot of time and effort. Experts are expensive and don’t guarantee results. The upside is that these two factors keep most everyone from even doing their keyword research. The smartest marketers use website traffic software to automate this and other aspects of their business. Using tools like this speed up the process and improve your results, too!
OK, now we can talk about traffic…
Only after doing your keyword research correctly can you start targeting these keywords to get you traffic.
Powerful Traffic Tactics:
- Something you may not have ever considered is Surveys
- “Traffic Traps”
- Video
Surveys
People love filling in surveys. You can use this fact to provide “sticky” content for other website owners. It’s a win-win. They get a great perk on their site and you get a link back to yours. The beauty of this is that it generates website visitors for you with no work on your part. This is a sneaky little idea that most people never even think of. Just make the question interesting enough that people will want to share it with their own visitors.
“Answer” Sites
These sites, like answers.yahoo.com are filled with people asking and answering questions for each other. But, like the surveys, that’s not why you’re going to pay attention to these sites. You are going to generate traffic, leads and sales from them. Of course, the process of digging through these sites and pulling out the content info of leads for your business is very time consuming. The good news is that it’s easy to find website traffic software that can do this automatically. Then you just get a daily batch of fresh leads delivered to your inbox.
Video
Another great resource is video sharing sites like YouTube. These sites generate massive traffic and people watch over 2 billion videos a day on YouTube alone . If you’re not taking advantage of this rich source of website traffic, then you are really missing out.
You don’t have to be able to make awesome videos for this to work. One super easy thing to do is take an article or website you’ve written. Then simply record yourself reading the text and you video the screen with a simple screen capture program. You can even get software that will automatically do this for you.
In Closing
Figuring out how to get some visitors to your site is not hard at all. Use your noodle and come up with things other people aren’t doing. You can even use software to automate most of what we’ve talked about.
So, start right now and:
- Do your keyword research
- Set up some viral surveys
- Build your traffic traps
- And definitely include video sharing sites
